Product Introduction:
1. Description of Explosion-Proof Deluge Alarm Valve

The deluge valve is a device used in deluge and pre-action systems to control water flow and serve an alarm function. That is, during a fire, the control system causes the diaphragm to open, allowing water to flow into the system pipeline for fire suppression and activating the hydraulic alarm bell.
The water pressure in the diaphragm chamber (control chamber) of the deluge valve controls the opening or closing of the diaphragm. When the pressure in the control chamber equals the supply pressure, the diaphragm closes, preventing water from entering the system side; when the pressure is lower than the supply pressure, the diaphragm is pushed open by the supply pressure, allowing water to flow into the system side for fire sprinkling.
The pressure in the diaphragm chamber (control chamber) is controlled by a detection system installed in the protected area, which also serves as the driving system for the deluge valve diaphragm. This system can be electrically controlled, pneumatically controlled, or hydraulically controlled.
The deluge alarm system is equipped with open sprinklers on the system-side pipeline network and is supplied by the deluge valve.
The deluge valve provides two alarm methods:
1) Mechanical method, which uses water flow to activate the hydraulic alarm bell; 2) Electrical method, which uses electrical signals from the pressure switch to trigger an electronic alarm. The deluge alarm system is a fire suppression system composed of the deluge alarm valve, detection control system, and necessary valves, fittings, connections, and pressure gauges.
After the control cabinet sends a signal to open the solenoid valve, a continuous electrical signal is required to keep the solenoid valve open until a close signal is received to shut it. When the solenoid valve on the control pipeline is closed, it maintains the water pressure in the diaphragm chamber (control chamber) of the deluge valve, preventing it from opening. When the solenoid valve receives a command to open, the diaphragm chamber (control chamber) depressurizes, causing the deluge valve to open.

4. Two Performance Characteristics of Explosion-Proof Deluge Alarm Valve

1) The system-side pipeline network is equipped with open sprinklers. Once the deluge valve is opened, all sprinklers in the protected area activate simultaneously, making it suitable for extinguishing rapidly spreading and intense fires in flammable and explosive environments.
2) Using different control detection systems to open the deluge valve forms wet control systems, dry control systems, or electrical control systems. These systems control the pressure in the diaphragm chamber (control chamber) of the deluge valve, thereby controlling its opening and closing.
The deluge valve can also be combined with a foam system to form a foam deluge system for extinguishing liquid fires with combustion risks.
An emergency manual lockable ball valve (9) is installed in the pipeline configuration as an auxiliary switch.
Wet Control System:
A system composed of a deluge valve and open sprinklers. The system-side pipeline normally contains no water, as the deluge valve seals water in the supply pipeline. The wet control system consists of pipelines and closed sprinklers with 1/2″ pilot orifices distributed throughout the protected area. It serves only as a detection and control system, not for fire suppression. This is the simplest control method.
The diaphragm chamber (control chamber) in the deluge valve controls the opening of the diaphragm. When the pressure inside balances with the supply pressure, the pressure in the control chamber holds the diaphragm in the closed position. When a closed detection sprinkler or thermal release device in the wet control system activates, causing a rapid pressure drop in the pipeline, the pressure in the diaphragm chamber (control chamber) decreases because the restrictor at the water supply port cannot replenish enough water to maintain the original pressure. As this pressure becomes much lower than the supply pressure below the diaphragm, it can no longer hold the diaphragm closed. The deluge valve opens, allowing water to flow into the system side and discharge from the open sprinklers for fire suppression.
Dry Control System:
This system consists of a deluge valve and open sprinklers. The system-side pipeline normally contains no water, as the deluge valve seals water in the supply pipeline. The dry control pipeline consists of pipelines and closed detection sprinklers or other thermal release devices distributed throughout the protected area. The driving component of the dry control system is a pneumatic valve, which connects to the control pipeline on one end and the diaphragm chamber (control chamber) of the deluge valve on the other.
The dry control pipeline is normally filled with pressurized gas to keep the pneumatic valve closed. When a fire causes a detection sprinkler to activate and open, the pressure in the pipeline drops rapidly, opening the pneumatic valve. This reduces the water pressure in the diaphragm chamber (control chamber) of the deluge valve below the supply pressure, causing the diaphragm to open under the supply pressure. Water then flows into the system pipeline and discharges from the open sprinklers for fire suppression.
When the pressure in the dry control pipeline drops to a certain level, the pressure switch sends an alarm signal.
Electrically Controlled Deluge System:
An electrically controlled deluge system consists of an electrically controlled deluge valve and open sprinklers. The system-side pipeline normally contains no water, as the deluge valve seals water in the supply pipeline.
In this system, various electronic detectors are distributed throughout the protected area to form a detection network. The electrical control cabinet receives fire alarm signals from the detectors, processes them, and sends commands to the solenoid valve on the outlet pipeline of the deluge valve's diaphragm chamber (control chamber). Opening the solenoid valve allows water to flow from the supply pipeline through the system-side open sprinklers, performing fire sprinkling across the entire protected area.

5. Installation of Explosion-Proof Deluge Alarm Valve

5.1. The deluge alarm valve is generally installed vertically but can also be installed horizontally. The installation method should be specified to our company when placing an order. Regardless of the installation method, sufficient maintenance space should be left around the deluge alarm valve.
5.2. The hydraulic alarm bell should be installed with the principle of "small inlet, large outlet." The outlet pipe is a 1″ galvanized pipe, and the outlet of the alarm bell should be the highest point of the alarm bell drain pipe, connected separately to a non-pressure drainage ditch. This ensures that water in the alarm bell drains as completely and unobstructedly as possible.
5.3. The outlets of all control valves should be connected to appropriate drainage pipelines via galvanized pipes of suitable diameters.
5.4. Signal isolation valves should be installed at the inlet and outlet of the deluge alarm valve. It is recommended to use the signal butterfly valves produced by our company for easier maintenance of the deluge alarm valve.
5.5. The solenoid valve should be connected to the control cabinet via a control module. During a fire, the electrical signal driving the solenoid valve should be maintained continuously until the fire is extinguished. The signal is 24V DC.
